A former Dryden resident is recovering from an operation in Winnipeg to deal with a serious heart problem.
31-year-old Nathan Degagne had a device surgically implanted to keep blood flowing, a problem developed by a virus he contracted when he was 15.
Degagne, who now lives in Fort Frances, says he had been on medication until last weekends operation.
He says even though he has to walk around with batteries and wires attached to him, he’s feeling a lot better then before.
He’s now awaiting a heart transplant.
A benefit will be held May 4th in Couchiching to help offset Degagne’s expenses as he must stay in Winnipeg until the transplant is complete.
