Kenora MP Greg Rickford isn’t throwing his support behind a proposed border fee to enter the United States
Rickford says the government has worked very hard to improve conditions in order to attract Americans to the region, and any proposed fee would be a step backwards.
He adds that it’s encouraging that some congressmen across the border are on the same page.
Rickford says the fee will hurt economies in both countries and doesn’t expect it to pass.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is seeking approval to study the feasibility of collecting a fee from pedestrians and passenger vehicles crossing into the U.S. at border crossings.
