A former Chief of the Shoal Lake 39 First Nation is facing sexual assault charges.
Provincial Police along with the North West Region Crime Unit have charged 56-year-old Eli Mandamin with rape and sexual intercourse with a female under sixteen.
The investigation looked into an incident that took place in March of 1981 when Mandamin was a First Nations Constable with the Provincial Police.
He will answer to the charges in July.
