Fort Frances Decides To Pay MPAC

Despite pleas from several communities including Dryden, Fort Frances won’t be withholding its payment to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.
Town council has voted instead on a resolution calling on the province to hold MPAC accountable for how it’s determining the value of properties, especially within the industrial sector.
While other communities are holding back MPAC fees, Councillor Paul Ryan says any real change has to come from the province.
Dryden has withheld its latest payment to MPAC and had been hoping that Fort Frances would follow suit.
Mayor Roy Avis says the issue will be top of mind when he joins others for a meeting Monday in Toronto with the Deputy Minister of Finance.
