Fort Frances Man Ordered To Pay Fire Suppression Costs

A reminder that if you start an outdoor fire, make sure it’s completely out. A Fort Frances man has learned that valuable lesson as he’s been fined $2,400 for the cost of putting out a forest fire. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was forced to respond to a fire call last May, just east of Fort Frances. An investigation found that the origin of the blaze was an unattended rubbish pile on the property of Geoffrey Stanger. It was also determined that Stanger didn’t have a permit to burn during the day.
