Fort Frances Standoff Ends Peacefully

A safe ending following a standoff in downtown Fort Frances.

Provincial Police say a 34-year-old man has been taken into custody following the 11 hour incident.

OPP were called to a Second Street East home just after 10:00 Tuesday night with reports of a man locking himself inside a home.

At around 9:35 Wednesday morning, the man finally gave himself up to the police.

No injuries were reported and police have since re-opened the roadways that had been blocked off to traffic.

The Northwest Region Emergency Response Team was called in and the Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation.
