The Town of Fort Frances is planning to hire one interim full-time firefighter.
Mayor Dan Onichuk delivered a prepared statement Monday indicating the town intends to reduce the fire department even further as a cost cutting measure.

This latest move follows a recent controversial decision by town council to reduce the number of full-time firefighters following a retirement this spring.
Meantime, the Fort Frances Volunteer Firefighters Brigade is disappointed but say they will continue to work with council and management to resolve fire staffing issues.
