Fort Hope First Nation Receives Big Donation

A generous donation for youth in Fort Hope First Nation.

Kenora MP Bob Nault has delivered new inflatable play structures for indoor and outdoor use, a giant kin ball and 20-new pairs of skates and helmets.

The money was raised by Janaki Mehta, a student at Sir John A. McDonald Secondary School in Waterloo,

Mehta was assisted by a group of student volunteers as well as the Canadian Tire JumpStart program.

Fort Hope lost its community centre to a fire last April, resulting in roughly $1-million in repairs.

Nault says the students in southern Ontario have demonstrated a tremendous sense of social conscious and extraordinary leadership skills.

He adds it was heartwarming to be in the remote northern community to see the children receive the donation.
