The Lake of the Woods Water Sustainability Foundation is pleased the IJC wants to go ahead with 32 projects in the drainage basin.
In it’s plan of study report for Lake of the Woods, the IJC is recommending $8.4-million in funding for the work.
Executive Director of the Foundation Todd Sellars says one of the priorities is dealing with invasive species like the zebra mussel.
Sellars says they are also glad to see a priority has been put on monitoring water quality and dealing with harmful algae blooms.
He suggests the 8.4 million dollars proposed for the studies is a drop in the bucket for a drainage basin that provides fresh drinking water for hundreds of thousands of people on both sides of the border.
