The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has four capital projects as priorities for the 2020-2021 school year.
Superintendent of Business Richard Findlay says that includes work at New Prospect School in Dryden.
“Renewal work on paving and sidewalk has mostly been completed and in Summer of 2021 we’re starting upgrades to the school yard and landscaping.”
Childcare improvements are underway at Evergreen in Kenora with enhancements to the gym and playground.
Findlay says the project should be completed in March 2021.
A tender has also been released on childcare expansion at Keewatin Public School.
Building upgrades will be carried out to improve accessibility and they are planning major mechanical and heating retrofits.
Findlay says work is expected to begin in the Spring of 2021.
The Board has completed one major project.
Roof replacement at Sioux Mountain Public School in Sioux Lookout has finished.
New snow guarding and heat trace cabling was installed to strengthen the building.
