Wednesday is International Women’s Day and the New Starts Women Shelter in Red Lake is recognizing the day by hosting a free luncheon.
Shelter Executive Director Jennifer Chamberlain says the event starts at noon at the Super 8 in Red Lake and the Ear Falls’ Whispering Pines Centre.
Chamberlin says at the gathering, they will announce the winner of the Woman of Merit Award.
The theme of the luncheon this year is “Be Bold for Change”.
Chamberlin says the gathering usually attracts about 60 to 80 women and it gives them a chance to recognize one another.
