The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has cancelled the French immersion program at Pinewood School in Dryden for next year.
Superintendant of Education Janet Wilkenson says declining enrollment was a major factor in its demise.
She adds parents have already been notified.
A number of parents launched a campaign last year to save the program but its continuation has always depended on student numbers.
French immersion is still being offered in Dryden at St. Josephs Catholic School.
