The Federal and Provincial Government’s have announced funding for Highway 17.
In Kenora Friday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper stated that they will twin a 10-kilometre stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway around the Manitoba-Ontario border.
Harper says the upgrades will create jobs in our region, will speed the east-west flow of goods and improve safety for motorists.
Construction on the $100-million project will start in 2010.
Premier Dalton McGuinty was also on hand at the Press Conference.
