Funding for 9 Community Projects

9-communities in Northwestern Ontario are sharing $5.4-million from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
That includes money for the Whitefeather Forest Management Corporation to develop a business plan for the operation of a new Sawmill in Red Lake.
It also includes $290,000 for a Cultural Center for Youth and Arts in Sioux Lookout and a million dollars to build a multi-purpose facility on the Deer Lake First Nation.
The North Caribou First Nation is getting a million dollars to build a community and Recreation Center
Sachigo Lake First Nation has also been promised $849,000 to develop a business center that will contain the band office, a motel, restaurant, laundromat and office space.
The Wabaseemung First Nation will be getting a million dollars from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund to help build a multi-purpose facility and business center.
President of the Heritage Fund board, Michael Gravelle says even though there is a larger budget, its getting more and more difficult to decide which projects should get funding.
