Some rain is expected across Northwestern Ontario today, (Monday) which could help reduce the number of new fires as well as dampen existing fires.
Lightning strikes ignited about 2-dozen more fires in the region over the weekend, raising the total to almost 130.
No communities are directly threatened by the fires, but Red Lake is covered in heavy smoke which could blanket the area for several days.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says more than 2,000 fire personnel and over 100 aircraft continuing to work on the forest fires.
