Funding for Clean Energy

The Provincial Government is spending $4-million to support the
development and testing of clean energy at the Atikokan Bio-Energy Research
Centre.
The Centre is linked to the Atikokan Generating Station and is looking
at alternate forms of energy to use at the Coal fired plant.
Mayor Dennis Brown has stated in the past that peat and forest biomass
are viable options.
Research is expected to begin this Fall.
