The federal government is supporting seniors in Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation.
Minister of State Greg Rickford has announced $25,000 in funding for a community history project.
The project is aimed at gathering and documenting the oral history, values and locations of area seniors.
The information gathered will be shared with the community.
Rickford says the preservation of traditions and values is extremely important for the younger generations who are becoming more involved in their communities.
Rickford adds by recording and documenting the history of seniors, it will ensure that future generations have a strong sense of tradition and community.
