Fundraising Concert For Syrian Family; Donations Continue To Come In

The Centre will be rocking on December 28th as a group of local musicians showcase their talents for an important humanitarian cause.

The Rock N’ Benefit concert will raise funds to bring a family of six from Syria to Dryden.

DHS students Taylor McLarty and Emily Chasowy joined the CKDR Morning Show this week.

McLarty says their Equity and Social Justice class has undertaken a social action campaign and that’s one of the reasons they got involved.

Chasowy says they wanted to help out right away after hearing the families story and says the family has advised them that they are extremely excited about coming to the area.

Tickets for the concert are available at CKDR, Viva Dental, the Lutheran Church office and anyone who is involved with the Dryden Syrian Refugee Committee.

A total of $16,000 in cash and $1,500 in household items have been raised to bring the family of six to the community.

The High School group has launched a Go Fund Me account at https://www.gofundme.com/budrfgx8
