Future Direction of DMTS Still Cloudy

There is still no word on the future of Dryden’s Municipally owned telephone system.
The company was once again the subject of conversation behind closed doors Monday night.
City Manager Joe van Koeverden says DMTS and Dryden Mobility is in a very highly competitive market place.
Van Koeverden stresses they are looking at every opportunity to invest properly in DMTS and Dryden Mobility.
Documents show that DMTS revenues did not keep pace with the cost of capital investment and escalating operating costs on the mobility side last year.
The impact of the reduced dividend will result in a loss of $250,000 in revenue for 2012.
Van Koeverden says the original dividend was $1.25-million and now have been reduced down to $1-million.
He notes the future direction of DMTS will be clarified within 2 or 3 months.
He says more time is needed to negotiate various agreements and operating opportunities.
