Gardner-Mining-Resource Law

The Grand Chief of Treaty Three says communities in this region are more than willing to work with mining and exploration companies on projects in the area.

Arnold Gardner was one of the speakers this morning at a workshop conducted by Treaty Three and the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.

He says they key is working with aboriginal communities,
in a mutually respectful partnership.

Gardner says Treaty Three has developed a Resource Law to deal with forest, mining and other companies wanting to work on traditional lands in this region.

He says the goal is to prevent the kinds of confrontations that have dogged the Big Trout Lake First Nation and Platinex.
