Patience is the key for mining development in the Kenora district.
That’s the message being delivered by Craig Ravnass, geologist with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.
Ravnass says most mining companies are still in the exploration stage.
Ravnass says it’s tough to determine a time-line for possible development as a number of factors come into play.
He notes its directly related to commodity prices and keeping the price of gold above the value of economic assessments.
Ravnass stresses the future looks bright for possible production.
He says the Musselwhite Mine and the Red Lake mine area prime examples of projects that are in a production stage.
He was a member of the mining panel at the Kenora District Municipal Association Confernce in Dryden this morning.
