Construction of a new shaft at the Red Lake Goldcorp Mine is back on
schedule after a few delays last year.
General Manager Claude Lemasson says work is going well as crews have
hit the 2,700 foot mark in sinking and completed a new 16-level
station.
Goldcorp CEO Rob McEwan is excited about the progress and says the
company also plans to expand exploration opportunities this year.
The new shaft will be completed to a depth of over 7,000 feet
and will increase production by 45%.
It is scheduled for completion by mid-2007.
