Government Asked to Help Protect the Public

A bear attack north of Chapleau that claimed the life of a 31-year-old
Cambridge woman Tuesday has again raised concerns about aggressive bears.
Police across the Region have been inundated with calls in recent weeks
about bears wandering into Towns, populated neighborhoods and backyards.
Robert Pye is with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and says its
not an isolated problem.
Pye says the $10-million ‘Bear Wise’ program has done little to
protect the public.
The OFAH is pleading with the Government to reinstate the spring hunt
to help keep the bear population in balance.
