Grand Chief Disappointed With Dryden Hospital

The Grand Chief of Grand Council Treaty 3 says a Dryden doctor recieved a “slap on the wrist” following a breach of code of conduct.
Chief Warren White says a Dryden Regional Health Centre physician must face appropriate disciplinary action following racist comments to an Anishinaabe family during an emergency visit earlier this month.
The doctor has agreed to sensitivity training but the hospital has declined comment on whether the physician faces additional disciplinary action.
White says the impacts of racism and hatred can’t be minimized and the hospital must deliver a strong message that this won’t be tolerated.
White is responding by inviting hospital’s in Dryden, Red Lake, Kenora and Fort Frances into an exclusive meeting to discuss issues of racism.
White says he wants to build a strong relationship and ensure hospital’s move forward to improve existing services and programs.
