Dryden Police say the grandparents scam is back in the community.
A local grandmother was contacted by someone claiming her grandson Jason had been arrested and needed money for bail.
Chief of Police Rob Davis says the woman didn’t fall for the scam.
Davis says the fraudster uses social media and old accounts to gather information on the individual to make it sound realistic.
Davis notes the people making the calls are smart and do their homework before making the call.
He recommends contacting police if they have concerns or need to verify the false information.
