The Forest Tent Caterpillar, or the “Army Worm”, is set to make its presence known in northwestern Ontario.
Taylor Scarr is a provincial entomologist and says a breakout is set to occur.
Scarr says the insect will be prevalent in Dryden, Kenora and Sioux Lookout and it will make its way to Thunder Bay.
He notes if the outbreak doesn’t occur this year, it will happen in 2015.
Scarr notes we will start seeing the caterpillars in May or June.
