The Grandparent Scam is apparently alive and well in the Dryden area.
The CKDR Newsroom has received reports of the scam resurfacing and there are reports in Kenora of a grandmother who was scammed out of a $1,000 from someone posing as her grandson.
The Consumer Federation cautions seniors not to send money unless you can confirm it’s someone you really know and ask questions so you can confirm their identity.
You can also try and contact your bank for financial institution to try and put a hold on the payment if you are worried that you have been scammed.
RBC says it’s noticed an increase in this type of scam.
