The Chief of Grassy Narrows First Nation is calling on all of the federal candidates in the Kenora riding to make clean water commitments.
Roger Fobister says the government has been asleep at the wheel when it comes to providing safe drinking water in their community.
Fobister says they failed to act for 15-years after the government knew that Grassy Narrows water violated safety limits for possible cancer causing chemicals.
He adds they need their water treatment plant fixed and upgraded right away and is asking candidates to declare a date by which they would have safe tap water flowing.
Grassy Narrows has been on a local boil water advisory since June 2014, with still plenty of signs of high uranium levels.
