It’s a new school year at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Thunder Bay and Sudbury.
There are 64-new medical students at the school this year and the group has received a full week of orientation, learning more about the geography of the north as well as the social, cultural and diversity of the region.
89% of the students are actually from the north and the other 11% are from rural and remote parts of Canada.
20% are self-identified Francophone, while 8% are self-identified aboriginal.
The school received over 2,000 applications for the new school year.
