Who says you can’t fight Elections Canada.
Windigo Island is a small community on Lake of the Woods and wasn’t supposed
to get it’s own polling station on October 19th.
However, NDP candidate Howard Hampton launched a complaint to Election
Canada demanding a polling station.
Elections Canada relented this week and says it will be establishing a polling
station, which will be a split poll for the Northwest Angle #37 First Nation.
That will include training two community members who will be responsible for
picking up and dropping off the ballots.
Each trip requires a boat ride into Manitoba and a car ride into Kenora, a two hour
trip.
