The Dryden Ice Dogs were in a giving mood to help the Canadian Cancer Society, but not in helping the visiting Fort Frances Lakers Wednesday night at the Memorial Arena.
The team dawned their pink socks and joined the Society to raise over $7,500 and skated away with a 7-4 victory.
John Mitchell shaved his head in the first intermission and then went out and recorded a goal and 2-assists.
Mitchell says his team didn’t panic after trailing 3-1.
Chad Liley scored twice while Kevin Burton, BJ McLellan, Spencer Gyori and Mike Lennon added singles.
Peter Emery picked up the win.
Dryden outshot Fort Frances 40-29.
Special thank you to Paul Howarth, Jared Olson, Dale Engstrom, Ron Fultz, Denise Szachury, Jordan Railian, John Mitchell for shaving their heads for cancer research.
In other SIJHL action, Jordan Davis scored the shootout winner to lift the Fort William North Stars past the K&A Wolverines 6-5.
