The Minister of Indigenous Affairs maintains he can balance serving First Nations communities with his other responsibilities.
In his first full week at Queen’s Park, Greg Rickford fielded accusations that the decision to bundle Indigenous Affairs, Northern Development and Mines, and Energy means the government is moving away from reconciliation.
Rickford says the government intends to honour the principles of truth and reconciliation, while supporting First Nation prosperity.
The Kenora-Rainy River MPP says Indigenous communities deserve the same opportunities that all Ontarians have come to expect in their municipality.
Rickford argues he won’t treat Indigenous Affairs as a part-time ministry, adding he’s devoted to the job.
