Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford is fed up and he wants answers.
The Minister of Energy and Northern Development and Mines has called the Competition Bureau to review and investigate gas and diesel retail prices in northwestern Ontario.
The Bureau is an independent federal law enforcement agency that ensures Canadian businesses and consumers prosper in a competitive and innovative marketplace.
Rickford says we are paying 25 to 35 cents per litre more than anyone else.
Rickford stresses the price at the pump should have been lowered the second the cap-and-trade carbon tax was eliminated.
He says consumers should have seen at least 4.3 to 5 cents relief at that time.
Rickford says someone in the supply chain, whether it be the vendor or distributer, is taking money away from consumers and he wants to see an investigation launched
He says he can’t accept local motorists getting gouged and he’s hoping the Bureau takes the issue seriously.
Rickford believes he has collected enough compelling evidence to warrant a probe and he’s also calling for the support of Kenora MP Bob Nault.
