A Vice-President with Greyhound Canada told a Thunder Bay inquest that seat belts would not improve safety and could even threaten passengers.
Roger Pike was testifying at an inquest into the death of an elderly London woman who died following a Greyhound bus crash near Upsala two years ago.
A lawyer for ten people injured in the accident says seat-belts should be available as they are in some European buses.
Christopher Hacio says had Mary Louise Lent been in a seat belt, it could have prevented her death.
But Pike says while some buses in other countries have seat belts, its unclear if they were introduced for political or safety reasons.
