The Liberals say if they win the next federal election they will restore funding for the Experimental Lakes Area.
Bob Nault is the candidate for the Kenora Riding and says they would commit to provide anywhere from $1.5 to $2 million a year to operate the ELA.
Nault adds they are willing to work with the provinces of Manitoba and Ontario to ensure the on-going operation of the world renowned facility.
He adds it was a “black eye” on northwestern Ontario when the Conservative government decided to withdraw funding for the facility.
Liberal leader Justin Trudeau outlined his vision for the ELA while discussing his party’s Environmental Platform.
