A Lawyer representing four families fighting Ontario’s Grade 10 Literacy Test says it should be scrapped because it’s unfair.
David Baker argues passing the test should not be a requirement for graduation this year because it’s biased against minorities and those who are deaf or having learning disabilities.
He’s asking a Judge to grant an injunction so High School Students who can’t pass the test, or a recently introduced literacy course, can still graduate this year and go on to Post-Secondary Institutions.
This year’s Graduating Class comprises the first students who have to pass the test, or the course introduced in September, to earn their diploma.
There are no exemptions.
