Three athletes, two builders and a national championship curling team make up the 2011 slate of inductees to enter the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
The three athletes are from Thunder Bay and include Olympic swimmer Tom Alexander, former NHL’er Rick Bragnalo and cyclist Scott Timmerman.
Don Gale of Rainy River is in the Builder category for a successful 30-year coaching career in hockey, curling, baseball and golf.
He’s joined by Lynden McIntosh who served as a successful ski coach of World Cup and Olympic level athletes.
The Team category welcomes the members of the 2006 Al Hackner Senior Men’s Curling Team.
The induction ceremony is set for September 24th in Thunder Bay.
