The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is looking for public comments on the proposed Hammond Reef Gold Mine project, about 23-kilometres northeast of Atikokan.
A comprehensive study is in its early stages and the Agency will be accepting feedback from the public on potential environmental issues and concerns.
The public comment period is from August 16th to September 22nd.
The Agency is also making available $50,000 to assist groups and individuals to participate.
Osisko Hammond Reef Gold proposes to develop an open-pit gold mine that is expected to operate for about 14-years with a production rate of about 50,000 tonnes per day.
