The Dryden Police Services Board is joining other Ontario Police Board’s in a call to have the Government change what they call “a broken arbitration system.”
Chair Bill Hovi says arbitrators currently don’t take into consideration the economic conditions of smaller communities when making a decision.
Hovi says a balance needs to be created by the Province to allow for growth, while staying fiscally responsible.
He adds escalating labour costs in emergency services threatens local budgets.
