The provincial government is being asked to support the appeal of six band members from Big Trout Lake who are in jail for contempt of court.
NDP leader Howard Hampton visited 58 year old Cecilia Begg
in the Kenora Jail yesterday.
Hampton says its clear, the community isn’t going to back down, and says its time the government stepped in to try and rectify the situation.

Hampton also says a Memorandum of Understanding drafted by the province for Big Trout Lake last month, was not done in consultation with the community, and that’s why it failed.
