Kenora Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton unveilled the
NDP’s “Fair Hydro Rates plan” yesterday in Kakebeka Falls.
The election platform calls for a new industrial hydro
rate of 45 dollars per megawatt hour, and a seperate power
system for the North.
Hampton says the new industrial rate would help recover
and sustain forest industry jobs.

To be eligible, forest sector mills will have to enter
into five-year agreements with the province to sustain
Northern Ontario jobs and work with the government to
achieve energy efficiency targets.
