Hampton looks ahead to budget

Members of the Ontario Legislature have a couple of weeks off before they are due back at Queen’s Park, when the government will release details of the provincial budget.

N.D.P. leader Howard Hampton says the province saw a windfall in sales tax revenue last year from automobile sales.

He predicts much of that billion dollars will be used to buy votes for the upcoming by-elections in the Toronto and Ottawa areas.

N004 Q: …AREA. (15 SECS.)

Hampton feels his party has a realistic shot at winning two of the three ridings up for grabs in the bye-elections, which will be taking place at the end of the month.
