Yesterday’s provincial budget has some goodies for northern Ontario residents.
There will be an electricity credit for homeowners and apartment dwellers in the region, plus a reduction in hydro rates for industrial users.
Kenora-Rainy River M.P.P. Howard Hampton says lower power rates are good news, but they should have been implemented years ago.
Hampton also suggests hospitals are going to take a big hit, because the 1.5 per cent increase in funding announced in the budget won’t keep pace with the cost of living.
Hampton accuses the government of delaying the pain of budget cuts until after the next provincial election.
