The provincial budget is getting only modest words of praise from NDP leader Howard Hampton.
The Kenora-Rainy River M.P. says the McGuinty Government didn’t go far enough to provide assistance to struggling communities in northwestern Ontario.
Hampton says there was a minor reduction in stumpage fees announced for Oriented Strandboard Mills, but he doesn’t feel that’s enough.

Hampton adds that while there was extra money announced for road improvements in northern Ontario, it was all one time funding, and all the cash has been earmarked towards repairs, rather than new road contruction.
