Hampton Responds to Dryden Mayor

Kenora MPP Howard Hampton isn’t happy with a comment from Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttal. Yesterday, Nuttal said Hampton hadn’t been in the area during the wildfire crisis. It turns out that Hampton has spent most of this week visiting many Northern Communities first hand, rather than taking part in organized press conferences.

Hampton says he’s visited more than half a dozen First Nations communities this week alone, and has spent time on the ground talking to exhausted MNR Fire Rangers. He says he’s worried that dense smoke is preventing some residents from leaving and says the situation is dire.

Today, the former Ontario Cabinet Minister called on the Provincal and Federal governments to do more to combat the over 100 active fires, as well as provide more assistance to the thousands of evacuees who have been flown out of their communities.
