Hamton Visits Northern Communities

After spending several days viewing the fire situation in the Northwest first hand, Kenora MPP Howard Hampton is criticizing the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Hydro One. Hampton, a former Minister of Natural Resources, says the MNR underestimated the fire threat in the far North. In addition, he’s critical of Hydro One, nothing that Pickle Lake has been without power for more than two weeks while Hydro One scrambles to repair power lines. Hampton is calling on the Provincial and Federal Governments to declare a State of Emergency in the North and provide greater assistance, both to fire fighters and evacuees.
