Hampton Speaks on Electricity Report

NDP Leader Howard Hampton thinks the Province will use a report on the status of its electricity supply to break a campaign promise to close coal-fired electricity plants by 2007.

A task force warns Ontario faces a supply shortfall within 2 years and says the plants should stay online.

Hampton wants Dalton McGuinty to create an energy efficiency plan that would recommend conservation strategies.

Energy Minister Dwight Duncan insists the Grits will keep the campaign promise and close facilities in Atikokan and Thunder Bay by 2007.
