Harry was predeceased by his loving wife Elma, his parents, Peter and Anna Dzeoba, who emigrated from Ukraine, infant twin sisters, sister Mary, brothers Steve and Michael and sister-in law Hazel Woodring (Harvey).
Harry was born in Dryden on May 26, 1925 and lived all his life here. He enlisted early and was proud to have served his country as an elite airman in the 1st Canadian Paratrooper Battalion. He held dear his comrades-in-arms and he and Elma attended many military reunions over the years in Canada and Europe, keeping up these acquaintances. Once he returned from the service, most of his work career was with the local LCBO, as store manager.
Harry was an active and interested member of the Legion, Dryden Flying Club and the Ukrainian Literary Society. He was always a small town boy but had big dreams of flying and adventure which eventually led him to flight school.
His creative mind was evident as a young husband when he and neighbour Ted Ankney spent winter evenings building a covered “ice plane” in the basement which was tested from Buzz Pilkey’s Wabigoon Lake home. After getting his pilot’s license, he enjoyed taking friends around NWO on flights in his own airplanes, first an Aeronka Champ and later a Maule Rocket, often with fishing as the destination.
His enjoyment of the outdoors took him fishing, hunting, travelling, gardening and to the blueberry patch. Weekends were spent at “the cabin” on Blue Lake with his family building a lifetime of memories.

Harry’s family of girls was a source of great pride. He and Elma encouraged and supported their girls in education and saw them all go off to university, creating a houseful of teachers.
A memorial funeral service to celebrate Harry’s life will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 2 pm in First United Church with Reverend Hewitt Holmes officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
If friends desire donations may be made to DRHC Palliative Care Unit or the Ukrainian Literary Society through Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412 Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted at www.stevensfuneralhomes.ca.
