Some 320 kids from across the region took part in the 6th annual Harry McMaster Track and Field Classic in Dryden Thursday.
Students from area elementary and high schools participated in a number of events.
Organizer Mike Wood says its a chance to raise more awareness about the sport.
Wood says kids who didn’t think they were athletic are finding out that they have championship potential.
Wood says the goal of the event is to have fun and promote school spirit.
However, numerous northwestern Ontario records were shattered in both the elementary and high school divisions.
Wood says this is the fastest track between Calgary and Toronto and it was evident Thursday as Maddie Lambert led the record breaking parade.
