Ammunition, rifles and other hunting gear are causing headaches at
pre-board screening checkpoints at National Airports.
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority says screening officers
have seen a dramatic increase in seized hunting related paraphernalia
since the start of hunting season.
Anna-Karina Tabunar says all gear must be securely packed in a marked
container.
She adds the Winnipeg Airport is the biggest problem area as 155-pieces
of ammunition, including 51 key chains with bullets, have been seized.
She says every time a screening officer comes across a rifle, knife,
bear spray or bullet, it causes delay’s for travelers.
